Payment Link Descriptions

5 min read

Set the default name and description on new payment links so every request uses your venue's wording.

Web

  1. Open the sidebar, click Settings, then Payment settings.
  2. Under Payment link descriptions, the line under the heading says this is the default text for a new payment link and that the preview uses sample data.
  3. Edit Payment link name. One name covers every new payment link. It sits above Reservations and Admissions.
  4. Open Reservations or Admissions and edit the description for each payment type.
  5. Reset puts that field back to TablelistPro's built-in line. Insert field, to the right of Reset, adds a personalization field at your cursor.
  6. The line that starts with Preview: fills the template with sample data and updates as you type.
  7. Click Save.

Mobile

  1. Open the sidebar and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Payment Settings, then Payment Link Descriptions.
  3. Edit Payment link name. One name covers every new payment link. It sits above Reservations and Admissions.
  4. Open Reservations or Admissions and edit the description for each payment type.
  5. Reset puts that field back to TablelistPro's built-in line. Insert field, to the right of Reset, opens a sheet titled Personalization fields and adds the field you pick at your cursor.
  6. The line that starts with Preview: fills the template with sample data and updates as you type.
  7. Tap Save.

Payment types

These defaults belong to the venue you're in. A new link for that venue picks up the matching description.

Reservations

  • Prepaid full — the guest pays the full amount up front
  • Prepaid deposit — the guest pays a deposit. Tax and fees stay off the deposit
  • Authorization — the guest puts a card on file. The card is not charged up front

Admissions

Tickets and covers use Prepaid full.

Personalization fields

Insert field is on the name and on every description. The list is the same in each menu. On web it opens a dropdown. On mobile it opens the Personalization fields sheet. The label you pick is inserted as a token, and TablelistPro fills that token in when you request a payment.

FieldTokenFills in
Customer name{{customerName}}The guest's name
Venue name{{venueName}}Your venue name
Package name{{packageName}}The package, ticket, or cover name
Subtotal{{subtotalAmount}}The amount on this link
Total{{totalAmount}}What the guest pays on this link, including tax, fees, and processing when those apply
Guest count{{guestCount}}How many guests are expected
Event name{{eventName}}The event name
Event date{{eventDate}}The event date, like Fri, Oct 23rd
Arrival time{{arrivalTime}}The arrival time, like 11:00 PM. Handy in a line such as Deposit for Friday at 11:00 PM
Minimum spend{{minimumSpend}}The table minimum. This is separate from the amount on the link

Preview: uses your venue name, guest Jane Doe, 4 guests, Friday Night on Fri, Oct 23rd at 11:00 PM, a $2,000 minimum, a sample $1,500 VIP Table (or General Admission on admissions), and sample tax.

If the guest has no name, TablelistPro drops for {{customerName}} from the built-in name, so the line is Payment link. If there's no package name, it drops {{packageName}} - so the line stays clean.

Built-in lines

Reset on Payment link name restores Payment link for {{customerName}}. With a guest named Jane Doe, that reads Payment link for Jane Doe.

Reset on a description restores:

  • Prepaid full — {{venueName}}: {{packageName}} - for {{subtotalAmount}} + taxes and/or fees
  • Prepaid deposit — {{venueName}}: {{packageName}} - Deposit for {{subtotalAmount}}
  • Authorization — {{venueName}}: {{packageName}} - Authorization for {{subtotalAmount}} + taxes and/or fees

+ taxes and/or fees is plain text on the full and authorization lines. Delete it when you want the description to end at the amount. The built-in deposit line ends at the amount, since tax and fees stay off the deposit.

A filled full-payment line looks like: Marquee: VIP Table - for $1,500.00 + taxes and/or fees.

On a new payment link

Name starts from Payment link name. Description on web, or Message on mobile, starts from the matching description. Those lines fill in the personalization fields from the reservation.

The description keeps updating as you change payment type, amount, tax, service charge, or fees. Once you edit that field, your wording stays put.

Balance Due uses its own line: Venue: Package - remaining balance of $X. It doesn't use these templates. Edit that text on the link.

Links you already created keep the name and description they were saved with.
